What is the role of a pressure switch in a refrigeration system?
In the case of a cold room, the compressor is in action to start the production of the refrigeration process. This phenomenon is produced by the pressurization of the refrigerant fluid. The role of the pressure switch is to control the pressure level of the latter and if necessary acts as a circuit breaker. You can find LP (low pressure) or HP (high pressure) pressure switches. It is therefore an important part of refrigeration devices and cold rooms, which makes it possible to secure equipment and avoid damage due to poor pressure adjustment. It is also called pressure switch or pressure switch. If it detects that the gas threshold is insufficient or exceeded, it will cut off the electrical circuit. The high pressure switch will protect the equipment of your cold room refrigeration system if the pressure is too high (for example in the case of condenser clogging or ventilation failure). The cut-off threshold varies depending on the type of condenser, the refrigerant used, etc. In general the setting is between 8 and 32 bars.
Concerning the low pressure switch which is fixed at the compressor level, at the suction level. It aims in particular to secure the system in the event of humidity in the air or a drop in pressure, by stopping the compressor, generally at a pressure between 5° and 10°C.
